Our musical plans for that year were presenting two music events: a Music Festival and a Classical Guitar Night. The Classical Music Festival was part of the Arts and Wine Festival organized by the Cultural Council of Cortland County and took place on August 3, 2013 in the Courthouse Park. Eight hours of music was provided by local musicians, with each musician or group performing ½ to 1 hour. Musicians included local professionals, teachers, students and amateurs. The event provided an opportunity for students to gain stage experience, sometimes performing with their teachers. It also provided an opportunity for teachers and professionals to share their music with the community. Professional, semi-professional, college music majors and mentor musicians were paid for their effort, according to definitions and rates given below under “Festival Musician Compensation”. Student, amateur and volunteer musicians were unpaid. ‘

Classical Guitar Night presented music students at the college level, each performing two or three short pieces for classical guitar. Our Classical Guitar Nights (2010-12) have been very well received. We have had the help of Professor Pablo Cohen of Ithaca College who has encouraged his students to participate.
